We built the tool we wished existed
There are plenty of file conversion sites out there. Most of them make you create an account. Some put watermarks on your documents. A lot of them upload your files to a cloud server, process them somewhere you can't see, and delete them "after 24 hours" — or so they say.
We found that frustrating. If you need to quickly merge two PDFs or resize a photo, you shouldn't have to hand over your email address, sit through a paywall, or wonder what's happening to the files on your hard drive.
So we built Stakium
Stakium runs every single tool entirely inside your web browser. When you drop a PDF onto the page, it's read by JavaScript running on your own device — not sent to any server. When you click download, the output file is generated locally and handed directly to your browser's download system. We never see it. We never could.
The technology that makes this possible has been in browsers for years — WebAssembly, the File API, and libraries like PDF-lib and PDF.js. We pulled together the best of what's available, wrapped it in a clean interface, and made it free to use.
What we believe in
A few things guide every decision we make about Stakium:
- Privacy by default. Your files are yours. They shouldn't leave your device unless you choose to share them.
- Free means free. No "lite" version with crippled features. No file size limits hidden behind a subscription. Everything works, fully, for free.
- Simple over clever. Every tool has one job. We don't add steps, subscriptions or distractions between you and what you came here to do.
- Works everywhere. Whether you're on a Windows laptop, a Mac, an Android phone or an iPad — if it has a modern browser, Stakium works.
How we keep the lights on
Stakium is free to use and always will be. We earn revenue through advertising — standard display ads shown on the page. We use non-intrusive ad placements and we never let advertisers access your data or influence which tools we offer. The ads pay for our hosting, our time, and occasional coffees.
Our commitment to you
We'll never introduce a paywall for tools that are currently free. We'll never add watermarks to your files. We'll never sell your data — there isn't really any to sell, since we don't collect it in the first place. And we'll keep adding tools as long as people find this useful.
If you have a tool request, spotted a bug, or just want to say hello — the contact page is always open.
