Privacy Policy
Your privacy genuinely matters to us — not just as a legal obligation, but as a core part of what Stakium is. This page explains exactly what data we collect, what we do with it, and what we'll never do with it.
The short version
Your files never leave your device. All file processing happens inside your web browser using client-side JavaScript. We cannot see, access, or store any file you open or convert using Stakium — it's technically impossible with the way our tools are built.
What data do we collect?
We collect minimal data to run the website and understand how it's being used:
- Server logs — standard web server logs including your IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages visited. These are automatically deleted after 30 days and are only used for security and performance monitoring.
- Analytics — we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are popular and how people navigate the site. This data is anonymous and aggregated — we never track individuals.
- Cookies — we use a single cookie to remember whether you've accepted the cookie notice. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies managed by us.
- Contact form — if you contact us, we receive your name, email, and the message you wrote. We use this only to reply to you and delete it once the conversation is resolved.
Advertising
Stakium displays ads to fund its operation. We use Google AdSense, which may use cookies and device identifiers to serve relevant advertisements. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.
Your files — a clear statement
We want to be completely unambiguous: no file you upload to any Stakium tool is ever transmitted to our servers. All file reading, processing, and conversion takes place locally in your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript libraries. The output file is generated on your device and downloaded directly to your computer. We do not receive, store, or have any access to the content of your files.
Third-party services
We load JavaScript libraries from CDN providers (Cloudflare CDN) and use Google Fonts for typography. These third-party services may log your IP address when your browser requests their resources. This is standard browser behaviour and is outside our control. Please refer to Cloudflare's and Google's respective privacy policies for details.
Children's privacy
Stakium is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Your rights
Depending on your country, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we hold very little personal data (essentially just contact form submissions), most requests can be fulfilled by emailing us at enquire@stakium.org.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We won't notify users by email of minor changes, but significant changes will be highlighted on the homepage.
